Speed dating first evolved over a decade ago, but it has become much more popular in recent years, especially among baby boomers and seniors. Perhaps the increasing need for companionship is to blame, or maybe the adrenalin-pumping nature of the event makes it so attractive. Whatever the case may be, speed dating for older adults is more common and more useful than ever before ; it has transformed into an art, where those who can master its style are most successful.
Now you might be wondering, how does one speed date? Where can I find a speed-dating event? Speed dating is a quick form of dating, designed for meeting multiple individuals in a short amount of time.
Over the summer I had the opportunity to participate in a sort of speed dating agile adoption therapy game. It wasn’t as painful as it sounds, and.
I went through this quick meeting with an agile class recently and I said I would post this for the crew to refer back to. In agile teams there are a couple of core roles and then the rest depends on the kind of work the team does. But we can give some more clarity than this, as I have previously discussed here. Even so, the role of the Scrum Master or Product Owner or Tech Lead or even others will vary from project to project and even sprint to sprint. So I often have people sit down together and actually tell each other what they think they are in the team for.
I then compare this to what the person doing the role thought they were doing.

Sometimes we are matchmakers in working to connect the business with the solution that we hope will turn into a long-term relationship. I may have taken a blender to my metaphors from this point forward, so bear with me. Our first job is to put the business and the solution together. Sometimes we help the business fill out a questionnaire about likes and dislikes, and then try to find a good match.
Other times we are writing the equivalent of a Tinder profile, trying to get the user to swipe right. We might even try using agile techniques, which Is the requirements gathering equivalent of speed dating, and we keep sending the business likely candidates for a long term relationship them until they find something they like.

Running an effective sprint retrospective is hard. The good news is that your sprint retrospective will get better with experience. Every time that you convene for a meeting you will be able to identify areas where the meeting could have been improved, where feedback could have been better solicited and implemented, and how small adjustments to the techniques used in the meeting could have big results on the next one. First, all Participants need a Topic they would like to improve or a Problem which need to be solved, their personal improvement Topic for this Retrospective. Afterwards you ask Participants to flip the IndexCard and give them again 5 Minutes to draw a Picture, a Metaphor, for their Topic which helps them describing their Topic in a best way. After this first exercise, which takes about 10 Minutes, you have all Participants in the right flow and mood for a discussion about their Topic.
And the right side of their brain, the creative part, by drawing a Picture. This is the best starting Point for what is coming next. Let Participants pair and give them a strict TimeBox. Every Pair has exactly 10 Minutes. After 5 Minutes the Pairs change, what means that now Person B will discuss her Topic and write down possible Solutions or Improvements. Build new Pairs and repeat until every Participant has talken exactly once to all other Participants!
After the Debriefing we start the Action Planning. Ask every Participant to choose just one Action she would like to adress in the next Sprint, choose the most powerful Action and write them down on a FlipChart — Topic, Responsible and due Date. This was my second year as a facilitator at the Business Agility Conference in New York City, and it was even more impactful than last year read about here.
